WHOOVERVILLE 17 Saturday 5 September 2026 at QUAD - Derby The East Midlands' premier event for fans of the BBC's Doctor Who. There will be a chance to meet guests from the show, both in front of and behind the camera; photo studio; autograph sessions and much more. It's sure to be a great day, as the previous 16 Whoovervilles have all been. Guests will be announced over the coming weeks and months on this page, and look out for the Whooverville Facebook event page, coming soon. So don't hang about, Whooverville nearly always sells out - please don't leave it until that happens to think about getting your ticket. Tickets are now on sale from QUAD now!
Janet Fielding
Janet, of course played Tegan Jovanka opposite the Fourth and Fifth Doctors between 1980 and 1983, and delighted fans with her return to the role for the BBC Centenary Special, The Power of the Doctor in 2022, when she accompanied both the Thirteenth and Fifth Doctors.
Although initially reluctant to reprise the role of Tegan for Big Finish, Janet made her debut for the company to great acclaim in 2006’s The Gathering, so 2026 marks 20 years of Tegan on audio.
We were thrilled when Janet accepted our invitation to return to Whooverville for the first time since 2016 and are very excited to be welcoming her back to Derby.
David Banks
David played the Cyber-Leader in four stories in the 1980s, as well as the mercenary Karl in the stage play Doctor Who: The Ultimate Adventure, during the run of which, on two occasions, he played the Doctor, as Jon Pertwee's understudy. In recent years, he has returned to the role of the Cyber-Leader for Big Finish Productions.
In the 1990s he became one of the few Doctor Who actors to become also a Doctor Who writer, when he contributed the novel Iceberg to the Virgin New Adventures range, and also wrote the part non-fiction, part speculative history, Doctor Who: Cybermen.
Sophie Aldred
Sophie is keen to encourage anyone who wishes to come to Whooverville in their own Ace costume to do so. We are looking at the possibility of arranging many Ace photo sessions, which should be fun.
It's always a pleasure to see Sophie and we look forward to welcoming her back to QUAD - Derby on Saturday 5 September.
The book Ace Jacket - The Outside Story was due to be launched at Whooverville on 5th September. However, it is postponed until 2027, which happens also to be the 40th anniversary of the seventh Doctor and Ace.

Jason Haigh-Ellery
We are delighted that our good friend, the Managing Director of Big Finish Productions and Executive Producer of their Doctor Who ranges Jason Haigh-Ellery has accepted our invitation to join us at #DerbyQuad on Saturday 5 September.
Very few people have made as big a contribution to the history of Doctor Who as Jason, with Big Finish having produced many hundreds of top quality stories since 1999. It's always a pleasure to talk to him and it's terrific to welcome him for the first time as a guest to our event.
Alex Moore
Alex Moore who was the Location Manager for Ncuti Gatwa's second series of Doctor Who, scouting for and selecting filming locations for the show. In this capacity he made a number of appearances on Doctor Who Unleashed.
We look forward very much to welcoming Alex to QUAD - Derby on Saturday 5 September.
Mark Ayres
I shall step up to the MARK and announce our second official #Whooverville 17 guest for today.
It's our second Mark, musician, composer and audio engineer
Mark wrote the music for the Doctor Who stories The Greatest Show in the Galaxy, Ghostlight and The Curse of Fenric. He was for many years the audio specialist working on the Doctor Who DVD releases and has continued that work into the Blu-ray Collection box sets. Mark's outstanding contribution to Doctor Who was recently recognised with an award by the Doctor Who Appreciation Society
Although Mark first attended a Whoovers group event over 20 years ago, this will be his first Whooverville. We look forward very much to seeing him again.
Mark Hardy
Two more terrific official #Whooverville 17 guests to announce this week. And with both of them, we get TOP MARKS.
First up, we have... MARK HARDY
Mark played the Cyber-Lieutenant in the Doctor Who stories Earthshock, The Five Doctors and Silver Nemesis Earlier, he had played a Swampie Warrior in The Power of Kroll.
We are absolutely delighted that Mark has agreed to join his Cyber-Boss David Banks in coming to Whooverville at QUAD - Derby on September 5 and we look forward to meeting him.

Toby Hadoke
Today's second Whooverville 17 guest announcement is that Toby Hadoke will be joining us at QUAD - Derby on Saturday 5 September.
Toby is an old friend of Whooverville and the Whoovers, who has worked with us many times on both Doctor Who and Quatermass projects.
In case there is anyone out there who isn't aware of his work, Toby is an actor, writer and comedian who is a regular contributor to Doctor Who DVD and Blu-ray VAM and to Big Finish audio plays.
Recently, he has been the public face of Film is Fabulous, when two missing episodes of The Daleks' Master Plan were recovered.
It's always a great pleasure to spend time with Toby and we look forward his return to Whooverville.
Paul Vanezis
The first of our two Whooverville 17 guest announcements for today is Paul Vanezis.
A TV producer and director for over 20 years and a key member of the Doctor Who Restoration Team, Paul has produced a wealth of VAM for the DVD and Blu-ray releases.
He has been actively involved in the search for missing episodes, most notably in the recovery of the first three episodes of 'The Reign of Terror'. Recently he has been involved with the work of Film is Fabulous, who were responsible for the recovery of two episodes of 'The Daleks' Master Plan'.
We first worked with Paul at an event with the Restoration Team in Derby, almost 25 years ago and it is a real pleasure to bring him back to the city after such an over-long absence. We look forward to seeing him on 5 September at QUAD - Derby
Neil Cole
Neil Cole, prop-restorer and proprietor since 2018 of the Museum of Classic Sci-fi in Allendale, Northumberland will be with us as a guest of Reeltime Pictures.
Jonathon Carley
Big Finish's War Doctor Jonathon Carley will be with us on the Friday evening as part of We Sound Familiar.
Jonathan will also be with us in his own right at Whooverville at QUAD - Derby on Saturday 5 September, as our guest.
Jonathon will be spending part of his time during the day signing and meeting fans on the Big Finish Productions stall
We Sound Familiar
Our Whooverville Eve celebrations on Friday 4 September at QUAD - Derby will once again be led by our dear friends, the ever-popular comedy impressionist troup, We Sound Familiar - Chris Thomson, Peter Walsh, Elliott Crossley and Jonathon Carley.
We are also hoping to arrange a film screening before the show starts. Further details of that and of timings for the evening, in due course.
Mickey Lewis
We welcome MICKEY LEWIS, who played both Cybermen and Daleks in a number of episodes between 2012 and 2017.
Additionally, under the name Mick Lewis, Mickey was the author of two BBC Past Doctor Adventures, Rags (2001) and Combat Rock (2002).
We look forward to him joining us at QUAD - Derby on Saturday 5 September.

Composer, sound engineer and Radiophonic Workshop supremo Brian Hodgson enjoyed himself so much last year at Whooverville 16, that he contacted us and asked if he could come again - and this time bring his pals Peter and Paddy with him. Of course we said yes.

Brian Orrell
BRIAN ORRELL, who joins our already impressive Legion of Cybermen at this year's event, having featured as one of the creatures in Attack of the Cybermen and Silver Nemesis. By permission of Ian Kubiak of Cygnus Alpha, Brian will be joining fellow Telosians David Banks and Mark Hardy on stage and in the photograph studio, and will be available on the Cygnus Alpha stall.
Please remember that as a sponsored guest, Brian will charge for all autographs, further details of pricing will be announced by Ian in due course.

PETE McTIGHE will be joining us for Whooverville 17.
Pete is a highly regarded and marvellously inventive writer, who has contributed the episodes Kerblam!, Praxeus and Lucky Day to recent series of Doctor Who, as well as three of the five episodes of The War Between the Land and the Sea, and fifteen launch trailer/mini-episodes for the Blu-ray Collection range.
In recent months his name has been often mentioned in fan rumours around a future Doctor Who showrunner - but I'm sure he won't be able to talk about that.
We couldn't be more pleased that Pete has been able to accept our invitation and we look forward to working with him on September 5
David J Howe Telos Publishing
We are delighted that our friend David J Howe Telos Publishing will once again be joining us at Whooverville 17, Doctor Who Convention at QUAD - Derby on Saturday 5 September.
David will be accompanied by Reecy Pontiff, author of the new Telos Unofficial and Unauthorised History of the Eighth Doctor, Leap of Eighth.
We will also be lending David our official Whooverville guest David Banks, for part of the day, to launch his new autobiography, Man and Cyberman.
We look forward to welcoming David back to Whooverville and to meeting Reecy, who will also be introducing the special screening of the Doctor Who TV Movie on the Friday evening, 4 September

Matthew Campbell-Dell
Our friend Matthew Campbell-Dell will once again be with us at Whooverville - and he's written an autobiographical memoir, which he will be selling on the day.
How Doctor Who Changed My Life tells of how Matthew was introduced to the programme by his dad when Christopher Eccleston became the Doctor in 2005, he was instantly hooked. Convention visits followed, along with a growing love for the classic series and the people who had helped bring it to life.
Then, at just fifteen years old, a simple act of kindness changed everything.
Martin A W Holmes
Our friend Martin A W Holmes will once again be with us at Whooverville, recording an episode of his Vision on Sound podcast.
Martin will also be selling his Gruntleigh the Ogron books, which are also available from Redbubble
Andrew-Mark Thompson
Whooverville co-organiser Andrew-Mark Thompson will be selling copies of his work-of-genius parody book, This is a Fake as well as all his usual memorabilia that never existed, from his stall, alongside the Whoovers stall on the ground floor.This is a Fake, can also be bought from Telos
Obverse Books
Once again our friends Stuart Douglas and Philip Purser-Hallard of Obverse Books will be at Whooverville.
They will be selling many of their books, including the latest in the Black Archive series, The Invasion, written by (cough, cough) some bloke called Hatcher, who will be on hand to sign copies.
Photo Studio
We are delighted that once again, our photo studio at Whooverville 17 will be run by the best convention photographer around, Robin Prichard (TTL Productions).
Robin will tell you about pre-order arrangements, but you can just queue up at the appropriate time on the day.

Who-ligans and We Sound Familiar
Our friends the Who-ligans and We Sound Familiar are once again teaming up to bring events in the Metro Cinema, our second stage at Whooverville 17, to a triumphant conclusion, by premiering two new films - Who-ligans: The Wilderness Years and We Sound Familiar: The Final Broadcast.
